In Memoriam

Audrey (Markham) Ruddick passed from mortal life on 20 November, 2016. She spent decades pursuing her ancestral lineage and was meticulous when it came to detail and accuracy. Even in her last months here, she could remember stories, intricate details about family connections and had a never-ending passion for her genealogical work.

This is Audrey’s website with only a small fraction of what she had archived. I’m Colin, Audrey’s son, and I’ll maintain here what she worked so hard on for the majority of her life.

The Will of Elizabeth Markam of Romford

This Elizabeth Markam is quite likely the wife of John Markam of Romford, d. 1650. This will is 27 years after John’s and that is a long time for a woman to remain a widow, but she states that she is “very aged”. As with the will of John Markam, I found no connection to my Markham families. Continue reading

Philip and Deborah Candler of Woodbridge

St. Mary, Woodbridge, Suffolk

We seldom find very much to tell us about the daily lives of ancestors who lived so long ago. We count ourselves fortunate if we find their baptismal record, marriage record, maybe the baptisms of their children and a burial record. Then we have a basic outline of who, what, when, where, etc. Continue reading
