The Will of John Barker of Hempstead
In the name of God Amen; the 26th day of October in the year of our Lord 1497, I John Barker of Hempstead in the County of Essex and in the diocese of London, being in good mind, thanks be to God, make my testament in this wise; first I bequeath my soul to Almighty God and to our Lady Saint Mary of Heaven, and my body to be buried in the church yard of Saint Andrew in Hempstead aforesaid.
