Richard Golty of Hutton
There is no record of Richard’s baptism at St. Michael’s, Framlingham, however, since he entered Cambridge in 1646 and his older brother, Samuel, entered in 1641 at the age of 14, Richard was probably born about 1628-30, and as might be expected, there is a gap in the family baptismal records during those years. Richard Golty of Framlingham
Richard Golty was born somewhere in the Ipswich area of Suffolk, the eldest son of Edmund and Susan Goltye. According to the memorial plaque in St. Michael’s church, he died at the age of 84 which would have him born in 1594. Since he entered Cambridge in 1613 that would mean he entered college at the age of 19, which was not uncommon. Continue reading

We are told in the will of his father that Edmund Goltye was born May 10, 1565. He was not yet 19 years old when his father died and Edmund became his executor. Even though he was the executor he did not come into his full inheritance until he was 23 years old. Continue reading
