This is the John Collins about whom there has been so much confusion among previous researchers. I will present the evidence and give my reasons but it gets rather involved so I ask my readers to bear with me. In my article John Collins; One, Two or Three? John Collins; One, Two or Three?
OK. Let’s admit it; there were, and are, thousands of men named John Collins. The name of Collins is very common in England and the name John is, by far, the most common first name of all. I’ve found the name ‘John Collins’ in just about every town and village, and considering the name is carried from generation to generation, it can become very confusing to figure out just which one is which.
